Terry Schindler – Bio

Terry Schindler holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and is one of the foremost authorities on transaction technology in the world.

Terry was instrumental in helping acquire Q-Card and was the lead engineer responsible for integrating the Q-Card product and service line into the Brush Industries infrastructure.

Through the efforts of Terry and his team of engineers, software developers and technicians, Q-Card has grown to become a global leader in card and ticket testing equipment, third party card testing laboratory services, smart card testing equipment and quality consulting to the card industry. Terry and his team also successfully transitioned the magnetic stripe world standard from Brawnschweig, Germany and PTB, to the Q-Card facilities in Pennsylvania, USA. Terry's leadership helped Q-Card assume responsibility for providing secondary reference cards in compliance with both ISO/IEC (the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission) 7811-2:2001 low coercivity recording techniques and ISO/IEC 7811-6:2001 high coercivity recording techniques.

Terry and his team's experience in technical standards certification, involvement in the standardization of magnetic stripe cards, financial and technical strength and the certification in ISO9001 2000, helped qualify Q-Card to be selected to provide these cards. It was important to the ISO/IEC that the company adopting this responsibility is in a position to enable WG1, in order to stay involved in the continued development and maintenance of the standard. WG1 is the working group within ISO/IEC responsible for developing and maintaining the standards for recording and reading the information on a magnetic stripe.

Terry has been involved with many of the standards used in the card industry today and currently serves on the ISO committee for magnetic stripe standards as well as a leader in ICMA's efforts to establish a green standard for cards. Terry has received the 2007 INCITS Merit Award presented by the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) and Q-Card received an ICMA Élan Award for his design of the Card Flex tester.
